The Francis Howell School District has announced the hiring of Dr. Nathan Hostetler as the new principal of Francis Howell North High School, effective July 1, 2018. As a building leader, Dr. Hostetler has a strong record of improving academic performance, implementing innovative programs, and creating a strong sense of school community.

"The move to Francis Howell North is an incredible opportunity,” said Dr. Hostetler. “I'm honored to have the chance to be a part of such a well-respected building and District, and am looking forward to working with the students, staff, and community to continue to make FHN stronger for everyone. I can't wait to get started!"

Dr. Hostetler has served as the principal of Farmington High School for the past five years. During his tenure, he led the implementation of Project Lead The Way (PLTW) BioMed and Computer Science classes. He also spearheaded increased dual credit opportunities for students, more than doubling the number of dual credit hours offered at FHS. Under his leadership, the four-year graduation rate increased to 95 percent.

Prior to Farmington, Dr. Hostetler was the principal at Potosi High School for four years. He also served in Potosi as an assistant principal, instructional coordinator, and grant writer. Dr. Hostetler began his career in education in the classroom, teaching English in both the Southwest and Iron County school districts for five years.

Dr. Hostetler received his doctorate in educational leadership from Maryville University, and both a master’s degree in educational administration and a bachelor’s degree in English/secondary education from Lindenwood University. As a young teacher, his first classroom observation was at FHN.

Dr. Hostetler replaces Andy Downs, who will be the new associate principal at Francis Howell Central High School.
