Summer School

Summer school information for the 2016-2017 School Year is available in the Counseling Center. Students should pop into the Counseling Office to pick up information. Summer school is being held at Francis Howell North High School this summer.

Registration deadlines:
Session 1: May 1st
Session 2: June 5th
*Enrichment: May 1st
*Currently, online Personal Finance & Health are full. Students will be added to a waiting list.

High School Credit Recovery:

It is highly recommended that students who fail core classes (Math, Science, English, Social Studies) retake the missed credit via summer school to stay on-track for graduation. Students can only elect to take one semester class during each session of summer school (with a maximum of 1 credit being possible). First semester classes are offered during session 1 and second semester classes are offered during session 2. Each session runs a period of 2 weeks and students cannot miss more than 4 hours or they are removed from the session & no credit can be earned. Class selections are limited.

Session 1 – runs first 2 weeks (June 5-June 16)
8:00 AM-2:30 PM

Session 2 – runs second 2 weeks (June 19-June 30)
8:00 AM – 2:30 PM

High School Credit Enrichment:

Students completing grades 8 – 11 may enroll in credit enrichment classes to earn up to 1 credit. Credit enrichment runs the entire 4 weeks, but students can select AM or PM (or both, for 2 classes). Session runs from June 5-June 30.

AM Session – 8:00 AM – 11:00 A
PM Session – 11:30 AM– 2:30 PM

Students may check with their counselors about online summer school via Grandview High School. Students cannot attend BOTH the FHSD summer school and the Grandview High School. Classes can be taken for enrichment via Grandview as well as credit recovery. Course offering are listed on their website. Students can also take certain AP courses, but counselors must complete an AP form for them to approve the level of rigor.

What do you need to register for Grandview's Virtual High School?
1. If a student registers for a Grandview class for credit recovery purposes, they will need their counselor to complete a credit recovery form.
2. Students also need to get their MOSIS number from their counselor or one of the administrative assistants in the Counseling Office to use for registration.
3. Students need to include their FHN counselor's email address on the course registration so transcripts can be emailed to FHN upon completion of the course(s).
