Graduation Requirements

Graduation Requirements for Students Graduating in 2010 and Beyond
 
The Missouri Department of Education adopted new graduation guidelines in October, 2005 effective for students entering high school in fall of 2006. The changes require entering freshmen to successfully compete 4 units of Communication Arts, 3 units of Math, 3 units of Science and .5 unit of Personal Finance.

Social Studies                      3.0             US History, World History,American Government

Mathematics                        3.0            Based upon student’s mathplacement

Science                                3.0           Physical Science &Biology (3rd credit chosen from Science elective)

Fine Arts                              1.0           Any Art, Music, or Theaterclass

Practical Arts*               1.0         Any Business, FACS,Industrial Tech, Lewis & Clark, Publications Photojournalism or Pre-Engineering class

Physical Education            1.0           9thgrade Personal Lifetime Fitness (0.5 credit chosen from PE electives)

Health                                   0.5              9th grade Healthclass

Personal Finance*                 0.5          Maybe counted toward 0.5 credit of the required Practical Art credit

Electives                                7.0          Any course taken beyond the above requirements. If counting Personal Finance toward 0.5 credit of Practical Art,additional 0.5 elective will be  required to acquire 24 total credits.

TOTAL CREDITS REQUIRED TO GRADUATE: 24 credits
