A bright future is just over the horizon for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students at Francis Howell North (FHN). On Friday, Jan. 27, the FBLA District Competition was held at Chesterfield Mall. The Missouri FBLA District competitions draw more than 11,000 of the greatest minds in high school business from across the state. With over 60 events to choose from, student members competed for a chance to represent their Chapter and District at the State Leadership Conference. Local professionals, in all areas of business, volunteer to judge these events.

“Our students are competitive, they love thinking critically, and they were ecstatic to compete,” said Mim Eaton, FBLA advisor and business teacher. “From preparation all the way until the day of the competition, they took it seriously because they realized this was more than just a competition – they’re living out their future careers and passions.”

Students prepared for the competition by first selecting their areas of interest, members can compete in up to three different events. According to the FBLA, competitive events fall into three categories: individual, team, and Chapter. Individual and team events focus on skills useful in leadership and career development, while Chapter events recognize overall achievement and performance in management and growth.
