Graduating high school becomes an even more exciting life event when students not only receive their diploma, but also the news of winning a prestigious scholarship. Two Francis Howell North (FHN) graduating seniors, Caleb Black and Alex Warhover, had the opportunity to celebrate twice, as they were among 800 students from across the country to win scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

After the 16,000 semi-finalists were announced in the fall of 2015, a total of 3,000 students won college-sponsored awards in June.

FHN principal Andrew Downs says he is very proud of what these talented young men have achieved.

“Caleb is an awesome student who excels in all academic areas,” Downs said. “He is very curious and is willing to take academic risks.”

It is clear that winning these scholarships is a great reflection of how Caleb and Alex were as students at FHN.

Downs added, “Alex is a very analytical you man who is constantly thinking and questioning. He is truly a voracious learner.”

FHSD is proud of these outstanding students congratulates them on this wonderful recognition.
